The 3rd album from poj.wlkp, 'Pokój w Deszczu,' is slight departure from the first 2 albums in that it is piano based and there is no guitar or anything else at all besides a voice. The same wonderful lo-fi quality emanates throughout the recordings as they, once again, are subject to a simple tape recorder. Apparently this album was written and recorded in one day. The man behind the moniker of poj.wlkp, Jan Strach, traveled to a friends house in the rain to sit at an old slightly out of tune piano and let his mind loose. The result is a small collection of arrestingly hunting melodies characterized by a slapdash performance that only adds to the overall atmosphere. Simple motifs cascade in pretty progressions, bordering on improvisation. Each song unfolds, detours, and goes back to the source in a nonpareil manner. The opening instrumental "Czary" whirls around like leaves in the breeze while the next song "Żółty Dom" leaves you pondering in curiosity as the piano plinks away, dropping in your mind like crooked rain. There is something new to feel in every song, yet the album never deviates too far form the main concept which is very refreshing. The album title "Pokój w Deszczu," translates to "A Room Inside (surrounded by) Rain" and that is exactly where this exceptional outpouring settles the listener. And with the Unfinite Records release, comes 2 extra bonus tracks from the original session... That one magical day.
